The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum began with a single little artifact, a statue of Sekhmet (the goddess of lions) that sat on the desk of H. Spencer Lewis, the founder of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC. Today, the Museum holds the biggest collection of authentic ancient Egyptian artifacts on display in Western North America, with over 4,000 pieces. The Museum welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually, including 26,000 schoolchildren. The Museum, Alchemy Garden and Planetarium have become an educational institution that employs trans-disciplinary methods to promote historical, contemporary, and futuristic knowledge.

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum comprises a composite model of an ancient Egyptian rock-cut tomb, based on photographs and sketches obtained by Rosicrucian trips to tombs at Beni Hasan, to provide visitors with the sense of being in an excavation. Below are images of the duplicate tomb inside, which contains numerous scenes from the Book of the Dead. The model tomb’s black inside is evident.
