West San Jose is the region to the west of San Jose, California. West San Jose is bordered by the city of Santa Clara to the north, San Tomas Expressway to the east, Prospect Road to the south, and De Anza Boulevard to the west. State Route 17 forms the eastern boundary of San Jose City Council District 1.
The famous Winchester Mystery House, a California historic monument, and over 20 movie theaters, including AMC Saratoga 14 and Santana Row’s Ciné Arts, are located in West San Jose.

History
The majority of the housing was constructed in the 1950s as affordable housing. In the previous few decades, the neighborhood has become affluent as the median home value has increased to approximately $2 million, notably in the western portion of West San Jose bordering Cupertino and Saratoga. Santana Row, Westgate Mall (San Jose), and El Paseo de Saratoga are nearby business and retail areas.
